Pokalde Peak 5,806 m
The trek to Pokalde Peak (also known as Dolma Ri) is a rewarding trek to a “trekking peak” in the Everest region. It is one of the least technically demanding peaks in Nepal that is nearly 6,000 meters high. The climb is often undertaken as an acclimatization trek for higher mountains.
The summit is classified as technically easy. Due to its central location, Pokalde Peak offers spectacular panoramic views. It is suitable for beginners in high-altitude mountaineering.
Pokalde Peak - Day 1
Start: Chukhung (4,730 m)
Destination: High Camp (ca. 5,400 m)
Elevation gain: 780 m
Distance: 6 km, Duration: 4–5 hours
The trail begins in Chukhung and heads toward Kongma La Pass (5,535 m). Base Camp is usually located at around 5,400 m near a circular lake below Kongma La. A high camp can be set up further up near the pass to shorten the summit day.

Start: High Camp (ca. 5,400 m)
Destination: Pokalde (5,806 m)
Elevation gain: 400 m

The summit is usually reached via the North Ridge from Kongma La Pass. The route consists mostly of steep rock and scree. On the final ascent, there are short sections where you’ll need to use your hands for support. In good conditions, crampons or ice axes are usually not necessary.
From the summit, there is a breathtaking view of Mount Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), and Nuptse (7,861 m), which rise directly opposite, as well as Makalu (8,485 m) and Ama Dablam (6,812 m) to the south.
